Can a New Set of Clubs Increase Driving Distance?

When it comes to golf these days it seems that everyone on the course has candy coated dreams of being able to hit the kind of drives that Tiger Woods belts out on a rather consistent basis. While this is a great dream to have, very few of us have the powerful swing necessary to back up those heart felt desires.

The compromise, in the eyes of many is to go out and buy the clubs Tiger uses and the brand of balls that Tiger uses, and while they are at it, they will even switch brands of gloves, shoes, and tees in hopes of obtaining a tiger woods golf swings.

Can clubs really make a difference when it comes to driving distance? The short and long answer to that particular question is yes and no. Clubs can make an amazing difference to the average players driving distance. The drawback is that there isn’t a one size fits all solution. Furthermore, the added distance sometimes carries a stiff penalty when it comes to accuracy. This being said, golf clubs that are custom made for your swing and style of play can have a huge impact on those sweet drives we see in our dreams before each big golf outing.

If you have decent accuracy but your distance suffers it might be time to find a new set of clubs. An expensive proposition I know but well worth it if you play golf often. While custom clubs that are designed specifically for your height, swing, and needs are the ideal solution they are also a monumentally expensive undertaking. If you are bound by an earthly budget however, you just might find that you can experience significantly greater driving distances by switching to a more flexible shaft on your clubs.

If you have a steel shaft club, which are ideal for those who have control issues when golfing, then you might seriously considering switching to a club with a little more flexibility. There are all kinds of excellent shafts on the market that have varying degrees of flex. You do not want to go too flexible that you lose all control in your swing but adding a little flex to your shaft means that you do not need to swing as hard in order to get more power from your efforts and great distances in your drives.

Check with your local golf shop and see what kind of equipment they have on hand and what technologies are available in house to help you choose a club that will improve your driving distance. Be prepared however, to spend a great deal of time at the driving range working to perfect your swing and improve your distance and accuracy with your new clubs before heading out to the golf course unless you are ready for a very frustrating round of golf as your grow accustomed to your new driver.

If the expense of this is still a little much, try purchasing one club at a time and request gift certificates to the golf shop that carries your clubs from friends and relatives to help out in your efforts to get the club that will help you when driving for distance.

The Swingyde is great!
By Elaine Hazelrigg "golf fanatic" (Albuquerque, NM USA)
I purchased the Swingyde to help me with the wrist hinge in my golf swing.
I wasn't sure I was doing it correctly and wanted some instant feedback.
The device is wonderful. I use it to practice and in my warm up before a round.
My iron striking has improved dramatically.

Medicus Dual Combo Pack Driver + 5 iron + 2 DVDs

Actual Customer Feedback

** I have used one before and I think it really helps with tempo, especially the transfer at the top of your swing. It will definately help your swing, if you have a traditional type swing. If you tend to swing a little flat, you will have trouble with the Medicus. It "forces" you to swing upright and on a single plane.

** I own the Medicus, both the driver and the 5 iron. I love them both. It is great tool for rhythm and tempo of the swing. They also keep your swing on a single plane.

** I am a PGA teaching Professional. I encourage my students to get the Medicus and practice with it. I use it at the driving range for the first ten minutes or so to get my muscles loose and get my swing on line.
