Six Golden Tips For Basic Golf Swing Mechanics

Six Golden Tips For Basic Golf Swing Mechanics
By Ian M Bell

All golfers want to make their golf swings effortless and professional. They try to get that \"perfect\" swing and improve their game in geometrical progression. They forget that there is no \"one\" swing that is perfect but that there is a perfect swing for each and every golfer. Each golfer is a different individual with a different approach to the game and each golfers swing will be unique. It is only through practice and the adherence to certain golf swing basics that a golfer can perfect his or her game.

The fact is that many golfers are not able to execute a proper golf swing and hit the ball with their irons or their drivers. This causes them problems like slices etc. And when they fail to hit the ball, they either blame it on the weather, the slope, the effect of the overtime working or that they are just warming up. They tend to ignore the simple fact that basic moves are always the best.

The following six basic principles should get the mechanics of a proper golf swing.

1. The most important way to hit your target is to get your alignment straight. This is the basic concept behind a proper golf swing. With proper alignment you can hit the ball dead in the centre.

2. The first thing to do is to get a comfortable stance. A posture that will allow you to pivot your body as effortlessly as possible. Imagine your spine as a vertical axis, push your backside a little way out and locate your centre of gravity. Once you get this stance, problems should take a backseat.

3. Keep your eyes on what you are going to strike. Purely due to its simplicity, it has become the most ignored of rules. Nevertheless, this is the most basic and important of all the rules; because if you can\'t see what you intend to hit you can\'t hit it, nothing but logic and common sense.

4. Patience and concentration. Two essential qualities for a good golfer. Concentrate with your feet squarely planted on terra firma. This is not about what you are going to do or what you did; it is about \"now\". Concentrate now to achieve something significant in the future. This is the only way to get the proper golf swing.

5. Another basic golf swing instruction is to think \"pinch\" for irons and \"sweep\" for woods because that is the way golf clubs are designed; irons to pinch the ball off the ground and woods to sweep the ball off a tee.

6. One way to keep your concentration off the swing and transferring it to hitting the ball is to hum a small rhythm. Though they sound similar, there is a subtle difference. The golf swing is a technical aspect of the game whereas hitting the ball is what the game is all about. So the swing is a complicated process when compared to a simple hit.

Keep things simple. This will help you concentrate on the finer details of the game. It will also prevent you from panicking when you make a mistake. Fear and lack of self-respect are the two sworn enemies of a golfer.

The Swingyde is great!
By Elaine Hazelrigg "golf fanatic" (Albuquerque, NM USA)
I purchased the Swingyde to help me with the wrist hinge in my golf swing.
I wasn't sure I was doing it correctly and wanted some instant feedback.
The device is wonderful. I use it to practice and in my warm up before a round.
My iron striking has improved dramatically.

Medicus Dual Combo Pack Driver + 5 iron + 2 DVDs

* Medicus Golf Learning System is dedicated to assisting golfers of all ages. "Master the Basics" of golf through a consistent process of education, training and practice.

Actual Customer Feedback

** I have used one before and I think it really helps with tempo, especially the transfer at the top of your swing. It will definately help your swing, if you have a traditional type swing. If you tend to swing a little flat, you will have trouble with the Medicus. It "forces" you to swing upright and on a single plane.

** I own the Medicus, both the driver and the 5 iron. I love them both. It is great tool for rhythm and tempo of the swing. They also keep your swing on a single plane.

** I am a PGA teaching Professional. I encourage my students to get the Medicus and practice with it. I use it at the driving range for the first ten minutes or so to get my muscles loose and get my swing on line.
