A Lower Handicap in Golf - 3 Essential Tips to Help You Achieve It

A Lower Handicap in Golf - 3 Essential Tips to Help You Achieve It
By Stuart Young

Despite having been an avid golfer since the age of ten I have never become the really skilled golfer I imagined I would become one day. For many years, until quite recently, my handicap was stuck at between 12 and 14, pretty much a standard handicap for the average club golfer, but I doggedly struggled on to get that lower handicap. However, just a few weeks after I started to practice a few new tips and techniques I was able to lower my handicap into singe figures for the first time - and more importantly it has stayed there. I would like to share with you a few of the tips that I followed.

Now these might seem like very basic tips but that is the point - many golfers forget to focus on the basics but it is by drilling down into them and really getting to understand these \"simpler\" parts of your game that the greatest progress can be made:

1. Get Practicing Nobody has enough free time these days but the best golf tip is to practice as much as possible. Of course, not everyone can get to their local golf course for a round everyday, or even to a driving range, but you can still work on your swing in the privacy of your own home, preferably with the aid of a mirror so you can more easily analyze and improve your swing movement. Just do something on a regular basis - even the smallest amount of daily practice will help develop your golf muscle memory

2. Focus on Your Shorter Game You can spend stacks of time on the driving range and practicing your swing, but good scores are made on and around the green with your lofted irons and putter. You use your putter more often than any other club and improving your putting is the fastest way to enable you to achieve a lower handicap.

3. Effective Preparation What separates a winner from a loser is how much they practice and how much preparation they make before the actual round of golf. Make sure you warm up properly, spend some time on the range or in the nets just before your game and focus on a positive mental attitude. If you treat every round like a professional would you will start to see a difference in your game.

These are just 3 simple but essential tips that have helped me to improve my game but they are just part of the training and improvement regime I have put myself through in recent months. By remembering not to over-complicate things and by focusing on only two or three new techniques at a time my game has improved immeasurably and I have that lower handicap.

The Swingyde is great!
By Elaine Hazelrigg "golf fanatic" (Albuquerque, NM USA)
I purchased the Swingyde to help me with the wrist hinge in my golf swing.
I wasn't sure I was doing it correctly and wanted some instant feedback.
The device is wonderful. I use it to practice and in my warm up before a round.
My iron striking has improved dramatically.

Medicus Dual Combo Pack Driver + 5 iron + 2 DVDs

* Medicus Golf Learning System is dedicated to assisting golfers of all ages. "Master the Basics" of golf through a consistent process of education, training and practice.

Actual Customer Feedback

** I have used one before and I think it really helps with tempo, especially the transfer at the top of your swing. It will definately help your swing, if you have a traditional type swing. If you tend to swing a little flat, you will have trouble with the Medicus. It "forces" you to swing upright and on a single plane.

** I own the Medicus, both the driver and the 5 iron. I love them both. It is great tool for rhythm and tempo of the swing. They also keep your swing on a single plane.

** I am a PGA teaching Professional. I encourage my students to get the Medicus and practice with it. I use it at the driving range for the first ten minutes or so to get my muscles loose and get my swing on line.
